For Immediate Release:

South Surrey-White Rock, BC  November 21, 2017.   PC Party candidate Michael Huenefeld in South Surrey-White Rock By-Election asks if Andrew Scheer’s CPC is still trying to pretend to be Tory.  The Progressive Canadian Tory candidate was confirmed as the PC Party candidate by Elections Canada Sunday November 19th.

“The Progressive Canadian party is a continuation of the principles, policy direction, and constitution of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada.  The PC Party as constituted today was founded by Progressive Conservatives who understood that the CPC, founded by Stephen Harper and Peter MacKay, would not be Tory and Progressive Conservative,” Mr. Huenefeld said today.

“Tories like former Progressive Conservative cabinet ministers, the Hon. Sinclair Stevens, P.C. and the Hon. Heward Greffety, both of whom were previously PC leadership candidates, and former Tory MP Joe Hueglin founded the renewed PC Party to carry forward our message of nation-building, national unity, strengthening our institutions and economy within Canada’s constitutional framework,” Michael Huenefeld said.

“Mr. Harper’s party caucus, now lead by Andrew Scheer, described the Progressive Conservatives as a “Different time, different party’.  South Surrey-White Rock area MP Val Mererdith told CPAC during the ‘unite-the-right’ fiasco that she could barely bring herself to say the word ‘conservative.’”

“CPC candidate Kerry-Lynne Findlay is a former defeated Canadian Alliance candidate who ran against the Tories in 2000 in Vancouver Quadra and later joined the Harper cabinet.”

“We, instead, continue to be what Sir John A. Macdonald called ‘progressive Conservative,’ the Tory party.  In this riding, Brian Marlatt, a Tory policy wonk since 1998, has been the real Tory candidate in each of the last four elections.  The neoconservative CPC has not.  The CPC has been neither progressive nor conservative and doesn’t want to be.”
